Tennessee reportedly will be without a quarterback Saturday when the Vols battle Kentucky at Kroger Field. Backup junior signal-caller Quinten Dormady did not make the trip to Lexington, per VolQuest.com.
Dormady started the first game for the Volunteers this season but was replaced by freshman Jarrett Guarantano after Tennessee’s offense struggled in its 41-0 loss to Georgia.
Dormady, who is expected to have shoulder surgery sometime soon, had spent two days in Chicago last week leading up to the Alabama game to be examined. His absence at backup will put the Tennessee offense on the shoulders of true freshman Will McBride if Guarantano gets injured or the coaches decide to go a different direction under center.
