It’s been a taxing week for Jalen Hurd, but apparently this Tennessee fraternity member’s week just got a lot more interesting too.
Davis Dyer emailed Outkick the Coverage and told them that he had received a phone call and voice mail from University of Memphis offensive coordinator Chip Long who thought he was leaving a message for former Volunteers running back Jalen Hurd.
For the record, Tom Schad, who covers the University of Memphis for the Memphis Commercial-Appeal has said that this is not the voice of Chip Long.

This was reportedly the email from Dyer, according to Outkick The Coverage.
“Last night on November 1st I received a missed call and voicemail from the OC at Memphis. He thought I was Jalen Hurd and gave a whole sales pitch to come to Memphis.
Honestly thought it was complete joke at first, but then I searched videos of this dude and every video I’ve seen sounds exactly like the voicemail.
I’m from Nashville and got one of my friends to send me Jalen’s number. Ours are very similar.”
Here’s the audio of Long’s reported message for Hurd:
This is definitely quite the recruiting phone call. If this is him, it starts off sympathetic but then goes hard into the recruiting pitch, even saying he would switch the Tigers to an I-formation if Hurd transferred to Memphis. Long apparently says he’s “just trying to get our foot in door.” If it is Long, he clearly opened the wrong door here.
