A significant part of Tennessee’s scoring threat reportedly has been dismissed from the team.
On Tuesday night, Rob Lewis of Volquest.com reported that guard Detrick Mostella had been dismissed from the Vols’ roster. Mostella has averaged 10.5 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game this season. The junior had a season-high 25 points in a victory over East Tennessee State on Dec. 22.

Tennessee coach Rick Barnes addressed the situation in a statement, as relayed by the Times Free Press’ Patrick Brown.
“I’ve always been very clear about the standards that members of this program will be held to,” Barnes said in the statement. “Those standards are very high, and Detrick unfortunately has not lived up to them.”
Tennessee is 8-7 overall with a 1-2 mark in the SEC this season. The Vols host South Carolina on Wednesday.
