Tennessee Vols graduate assistant Nick Sheridan has been hired as the running backs coach at Central Michigan, according to CoachingSearch’s Chris Vannini.
SEC Country’s Mike Griffith reported last week that Sheridan would be joining the Chippewas’ staff, though it was not clear at the time what his position would be. Sheridan was an offensive aide in Knoxville the past three seasons.
Tennessee is making some changes on offense this offseason. The Vols are seeking an offensive coordinator after Mike DeBord left for Indiana. Tight ends coach Larry Scott is reportedly the top candidate for the position.
Also of note, former NFL wide receiver Wes Welker expressed interest in joining the staff as an assistant.
Before coming to Tennessee, Sheridan coached quarterbacks at South Florida and Western Kentucky. He played quarterback at Michigan from 2006-2010.
