SEC Country’s Top Tennessee Prospect of the Week
Austin Pope’s multi-catch performance Friday has earned him the designation of SEC Country’s Top Tennessee Prospect of the Week.
The 6-foot-4, 225-pound tight end/athlete from Christian Academy (Knoxville, Tenn.) caught four passes for 80 yards and a touchdown to help lead his team to a 37-14 win over Johnson County (Mountain City, Tenn.), according to the Knoxville News Sentinel.
Pope, a 3-star prospect, chose to commit to the Vols over several scholarship offers from other schools, including Arkansas, Mississippi State, Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma.
Christian Academy is now 10-1. The playoffs continue Friday when it plays at Elizabethton High (Elizabethton, Tenn.)
- D’Andre Christmas-Giles registered four tackles, including two for a loss, for St. Augustine (New Orleans), according to MaxPreps.com. That performance wasn’t enough, however, as St. Augustine lost 30-12 to Archbishop Rummel (Metairie, La.). The 6-2, 285-pound defensive tackle committed to Tennessee over several scholarship offers, including Texas, North Carolina and Nebraska.
- TaDarryl Marshall threw for 95 yards and ran for a 7-yard touchdown as Leeds High School (Leeds, Ala.) beat Clark Country High School (Grove Hill, Ala.) 43-0, according to Drew Champlin of AL.Com.
