KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Despite spots dwindling, Tennessee continues to load up on 2017 prospects.
Georgia cornerback Shawn Shamburger committed the Volunteers on Saturday night, tweeting the news.

The 3-star defensive back had just received an offer from Tennessee days earlier, and opted to jump on board after taking in the 55-0 homecoming blowout over Tennessee Tech. The 6-foot, 188-pound cornerback from Colquitt County also held offers from Auburn, Ole Miss, South Alabama and Southern Miss.
Shamburger becomes the 27th commit in Tennessee’s 2017 class. He is the fifth defensive back in the group — and third true cornerback.
With so little spots remaining, the corner’s commitment could signal movement elsewhere in the class. Tennessee would like to ultimately sign 25-27 prospects, and the Vols continue to target multiple offensive linemen, including 5-star Trey Smith, another wide receiver, defensive end Matthew Butler and 5-star cornerback Lamont Wade.
