Tennessee junior cleanup hitter Benito Santiago delivered an RBI double in the top of the 10th inning to lift the Vols to a 3-2 road win over No. 7-ranked Florida on Saturday.
Senior pitcher Jon Lipinski closed out the Gators in order in the bottom of the 10th as Tennessee won its first series over Florida since 2008, and it’s first series over the Gators in Gainesville since 2007.
Tennessee beat Florida on Friday night in 10 innings, 7-6.
The Vols (17-11, 3-8 SEC) look for the sweep over Florida (20-11, 5-6) at 1 p.m. on Sunday in a game that will be televised by the SEC Network.
Tennessee baseball’s Justin Ammons delivered a one-out single in the top of the 10th to set the stage for Santiago’s game-winning hit. It was Ammons’ second hit of the night for the Vols.
Lipinski went two innings on the mound to get the win, pitching out of a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the ninth.
Vols’ senior Jordan Rogers got a hit to extend his streak of reaching base safely to all 27 games he has played this season.
