Tennessee’s baseball team beat No. 7-ranked Florida in extra innings Friday night, prevailing 7-6 in 10 frames.
The Vols (16-11, 2-8 SEC) play the Gators (20-10, 5-5) again at 6 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday, with both games set to be televised by the SEC Network.
Will Heflin lifted a sacrifice fly to right field to score freshman Andre Lipcius from third with the decisive run in Friday’s upset win over the Gators at McKethan Stadium in Gainesville.
Jon Lipinski came on in relief in the bottom of the 10th inning to get the save, allowing one hit before putting away the Gators.
Lipcius, who singled to open the 10th inning, was 3-for-5 hitting and scored two runs.
Zach Linginfelter came on in relief of Vols’ starter Hunter Martin in the eighth inning and was credited with the win.
Tennessee’s Jordan Rodgers was 2-of-5 hitting in the No. 3 spot in the batting lineup, extending his streak of reaching base safely in all 26 games he has played this season.
Garrett Stallings (2-0, 3.03 ERA) is expected to start on Saturday for the Vols, while Florida is scheduled to throw Brady Singer (4-1, 1.47 ERA).
