The Tennessee men’s basketball team tallied another close win Thursday, defeating the Paris All-Stars 84-79 at the Complexe Sportif Marcel Cerdan.
The win gave Tennessee a perfect 3-0 finish on its European trip.
Vols sophomore forward Grant Williams led the way with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Williams blocked a 3-point attempt with 30 seconds remaining and Tennessee leading 80-77.
“This was probably the toughest game for us [in Europe],” Williams said in a news release. “We were really forced to play as a team. We showed that we can all play with each other, and we showed that — no matter what — we’re going to push through. All the guys did their jobs tonight.”
Freshman forward Derrick Walker has paired with Williams in a formidable frontcourt. Walker scored 14 points in the win and averaged 13 points and 8 rebounds over the three games.
“Derrick really stepped up,” Williams said of his rookie frontcourt mate. “As a freshman, he’s got a voice out there. The same can be said for Chris Darrington and Jordan Bone. They both did a great job tonight.”
Junior forward Kyle Alexander finished with 11 points and 8 rebounds in the game.
Darrington, a junior college transfer, proved that one of his strengths is putting points on the board. The guard led the team in scoring in Europe with 14.3 points per game.
