KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee’s basketball season could be at a crossroads Wednesday night when the Vols try to protect their home court against Florida.
The No. 19 Vols (19-7, 9-5 SEC) are 5-point favorites over the Gators in what has turned out to be the most balanced league season in 30 years.
Indeed, one has to go back to 1988 to find the last time all of the league teams had at least five wins in SEC play.
Florida (17-10, 8-6) enters the game Wednesday coming off losses to Georgia and Vanderbilt and very much on the NCAA Tournament bubble.
If Tennessee loses, it would tumble out of sole possession of second place. A loss would represent the Vols’ third defeat in their last four games, something the team has avoided this season.
