Butch Jones headed west on Tuesday to visit with one of the most important prospects remaining on Tennessee’s recruiting board, defensive end Jonathan Kongbo.

The Vols suddenly seem in good shape for Kongbo, who is rated the No. 1 junior college prospect in the nation by 247Sports. The Vols seemed to slip in his recruitment until Kongbo announced his final four last week, which included Tennessee, Ole Miss, Southern California and Florida State. Kongbo hosted Tennessee defensive coordinator Bob Shoop and defensive lineman Steve Stripling last week. The 6-foot-6, 264-pound prospect took an official visit to Southern California last weekend and is set to take an official visit to Florida State this weekend.
Kongbo committed to Tennessee during his official visit to Knoxville, Tenn., in November. He de-committed earlier this month. The four-star prospect took an official visit to Ole Miss in October. Kongbo, who is from Arizona Western Junior College (Yuma, Ariz.), has been highly pursued by several schools. Alabama looked as if it was making a strong push until Kongbo announced his final four via Twitter.
