Tennessee is putting some of its old gear toward a good cause.
The Volunteers have donated hundreds of jerseys to the Israel Football League, according to WBIR.com’s Raishad Hardnett. The school has donated more than 700 practice jerseys plus compression gear and other equipment to the IFL.
Tennessee switched its equipment sponsorship from Adidas to Nike, meaning a ton of gear became useless to avoid a conflict of interest. The timing couldn’t have been any better for the IFL, whose players must pay about $1,000 for equipment, according to Hardnett. The new gear arrived this week and it’s clear that the players are thrilled.
“They’re already fans of UT to some degree because of Peyton Manning,” IFL coaching coordinator Dan Phillips told Hardnett. “So it was one thing when they found out they had this great shipment of football gear coming. It was quite another thing when they found out it was from the University of Tennessee.”
