KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Josh Dobbs, Tennessee’s designated “Champion of Life,” explained to SEC Network host Paul Finebaum on Monday how coach Butch Jones has helped the Vols turn the corner.
“We’ve seen the growth throughout my time at Tennessee,” Dobbs said on the Paul Finebaum Show. “We went from 5-7 my freshman year to talks of going to the SEC Championship to winning the Florida game and Georgia game and winning big-time SEC battles.
“For Tennessee to continue to take the next step it just takes a commitment by every guy on the team that they’re not going to let their brothers down.”
Dobbs said players must “buy into Coach Jones’ messages,” for the program to grow an improve.
Tennessee was 2-14 against the SEC the two years before Jones took over after the 2012 season and is now coming off back-to-back Top 25 seasons with 9-4 records.
Mike Griffith and WNML’s Josh Ward discuss Dobbs’ message, and what’s ahead for Tennessee these final two weeks of spring practice.
