HOOVER, Ala. — Tennessee football junior Kahlil McKenzie didn’t attend SEC Media Days at the Wynfrey Hotel.
But McKenzie, a former 5-star defensive tackle, was discussed as a key to the team’s success this season.
According to former LSU and Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman Marcus Spears, McKenzie must step up for the Vols on the defensive line.
Coach Butch Jones has recruited well over his five years leading Tennessee, but many of those highly rated players — like McKenzie — must live up to their potential for it to translate to an SEC East Division title this season.
The Vols aren’t among the favorites this season, but if McKenzie and others step up, they can prove analysts wrong.
