KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee’s 2018 recruiting class is shaping up well, to the extent the Vols have two elite quarterbacks committed who intend on holding firm to their word.
Tampa (Fla.) Bay Tech’s Michael Penix and Fresno (Calif.) Clovis West QB Adrian Martinez say they’re both on board with the Vols signing two quarterbacks for 2018.
There’s a long time to go until next signing day, however, so there will be plenty of room for speculation and for the 17-year-olds to change their minds.
Mike Griffith and WNML’s Josh Ward also discuss the strange Bleacher Report story that seemed to take a clumsy shot at former Tennessee quarterback Josh Dobbs.
Supposedly a general manager commented anonymously that Dobbs wasn’t good on Saturdays — even though he led the SEC in pass efficiency — and the story was framed in a way that made it seem like Dobbs’ stock dropped.
In fact, his stock increased in November and again with his performances at the Senior Bowl, the NFL combine and his pro day workout.
