KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee’s football program surely can’t be accused of being overhyped entering the 2017 season after SEC Media Days in Hoover.
The Vols were picked third in the SEC East and had just two position players — out of a possible 66 — earn preseason All-SEC honors.
At that, offensive lineman Jashon Robertson and receiver Jauan Jennings were second- and third-team picks.
Tennessee did have two specialists earn all-conference honors, too, but neither return specialist Evan Berry (second team) nor punter Trevor Daniel (third team) were deemed worthy of first-team slots.
It seems evident that the Vols are being overlooked by many in the media entering the season.
SEC Country’s Mike Griffith and WNML’s Josh Ward examine that issue more closely and discuss Coach Butch Jones pending visit to the ESPN studios in today’s podcast.
