KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee hasn’t won at Florida since 2003, but the current Vols players don’t seem fazed by that stat.
In fact, seniors Emmanuel Moseley and Brett Kendrick said they weren’t even aware of that until they were asked about it on Tuesday.
The Tennessee players frame of reference goes back two years, when the Vols squandered a 13-point lead and lost in heartbreaking fashion, 28-27.
“I think we still feel like we have a lot to prove,” said Kendrick, who knows all about the rivalry, having grown up and played his high school football in Knoxville. “We talk about renting the stadium for however long it takes us to get the win.”
Vols’ defensive end Kyle Phillips was more blunt about his approach to playing Florida.
“We expect to beat them every time,” Phillips said.
