KNOXVILLE, TENN. — Tennessee’s quarterback competition isn’t going anywhere, from the standpoint that there’s only so far it can go at this stage of the process.
The Vols have a new offensive coordinator in Larry Scott, and players and coaches have said “tweaks” are being made to Coach Butch Jones’ base offense this spring.
Junior Quinten Dormady has looked better than redshirt freshman Jarrett Guarantano in scrimmage situations, according to multiple sources with first-hand knowledge, but that’s hardly a surprise considering Dormady’s level of experience.
That’s another reason why no one, including the UT coaches, are reading too much into the quarterback competition just 8 practices into the spring session.
Mike Griffith and WNML’s Josh Ward discuss why the competition between Dormady and Guarantano won’t truly be settled until after the season begins.
