Tennessee is looking to recapture its glory from the 1990s. Join us daily at SEC Country for the latest Tennessee recruiting news and notes on the next crop of Volunteers. In this edition, we discuss Tennessee’s new commitment, Tanner Antonutti.
Tennessee received a commitment from a lifelong fan in Tanner Antonutti over the weekend.
Antonutti plays for Ensworth High School in Nashville, and he has pictures of himself wearing Tennessee orange before elementary school.

“From as early as I can remember my family has worn orange,” Antonutti wrote in his commitment post on Twitter.
Tanner Antonutti’s decision
Antonutti held SEC offers from LSU, Mississippi State and Missouri, but playing in his home state meant too much, especially once Butch Jones began showing more interest.
“LSU was really close,” Antonutti said to 247Sports’ Ryan Callahan. “But once I figured out that Coach Jones was committed to me 100 percent, no doubt, then I knew I was going to commit to him. At first, I had that little doubt in the back of my mind that maybe it could be a little sketchy. But he pulled through.
“But then he called me the other day and was like, ‘There’s no grayshirt. You have a full-ride scholarship, no matter who the other recruits are.’”
Antonutti has played tackle and tight end for Ensworth, but he has transitioned fully into playing on the O-line.
Antonutti will join Cade Mays and Ollie Lane as offensive line commits who grew up Vols fans and will one day run through the ‘T’ as players.
“All the linemen that are committed right now are from Tennessee, and we have a strong Tennessee base of linemen, and that’s how they want to keep it,” Antonutti told 247Sports.
