TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Tennessee could be without another starting offensive lineman the rest of the season, and the team’s most explosive offensive threat will miss yet another game.
Vols guard Jack Jones has an injury serious enough that he could be out for the season, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.
Tennessee (3-3, 0-3 SEC) also will be without kick returner Evan Berry in its matchup Saturday at No. 1-ranked Alabama (7-0, 4-0) at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
The Crimson Tide are a 37-point favorite to beat a beleaguered Vols team that is down nine starters with Berry and Jones added to the list.
Berry, who led the nation in kick returns in 2015 and was second in the nation at the time of his season-ending injury last season, has not played since the Vols’ season-opening 42-41 double-overtime win over Georgia Tech.
Berry returned to practice this week, but a swollen knee and hamstring issues have hampered him. Berry also has value as a backup safety — noteworthy because of Tennessee senior Todd Kelly Jr. and freshman Cheyenne Labruzza both being out for the season with knee injuries.
Junior quarterback Quinten Dormady, who has been experiencing shoulder pain, is expected to dress and be available should anything happen to redshirt freshman quarterback Jarrett Guarantano.
Guarantano is making his second career start for Tennessee, and his first on the road, after Dormady started the first five games of the season.
Vols senior cornerback Justin Martin (ankle) and freshman defensive end Deandre Johnson (shoulder) are both game-time decisions.
