KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee football released contract details for 5 new assistant coaches on Friday.
Butch Jones’ staff saw an overhaul in 2017, with 4 assistant coaches and both Larry Scott and Walt Wells earning promotions.
All of the Vols assistants have 2-year deals.
Scott, now the offensive coordinator, has not had his contract finished yet.
Wells will be paid $300,000 annually after being moved up to offensive line coach. He had been quality control assistant.
New receivers coach Kevin Beard, formally hired earlier this week, will make $280,000. Defensive backs coach Charlton Warren will get $450,000. Quarterback coach Mike Canales will be paid $300,000.
Former Michigan head coach and Oregon defensive coordinator Brady Hoke will be the highest-paid non-coordinator on staff, getting $500,000 annually. Tennessee is also not responsible for any buyout on Hoke, should he leave to become a head coach again.
The university did not release details on the employee agreements for Steve Stripling, the former defensive line coach and now the director of football program development; or Tony Sorrentino, a new quality control assistant.
