The JUCO signing period begins Dec. 14, and though Tennessee won’t ink a commit on Wednesday, a potential JUCO addition could come several days later.
Arizona Western College cornerback Keisean Nixon is the lone transfer the Vols are seriously recruiting. He’s ranked the nation’s No. 48 JUCO prospect and No. 5 corner, per 247Sports Composite.
The 3-star prospect will announce his college choice on Dec. 17, picking between Tennessee and South Carolina.

The Vols haven’t had a ton of luck with JUCO transfers under Butch Jones, especially last season.
They signed four JUCO prospects in 2016, but only former No. 1 JUCO transfer Jonathan Kongbo, who also came from Arizona Western, saw serious snaps this season. While the mercurial talent had an inconsistent year, receiver Jeff George hardly played. Alexis Johnson, a defensive tackle, and D.J. Henderson, a corner, redshirted.
Still, the Vols have aggressively recruited Nixon during the last several weeks.
With holes in the secondary and a need for an immediate impact player, Nixon earned an offer from Tennessee on Nov. 29. The Vols then sent defensive backs coach Willie Martinez to Arizona during the first week of the contact period. Jones later had an in-home visit with Nixon to secure his fifth and final official visit.
After taking trips to South Carolina, Missouri, Iowa State and Colorado State, the early enrollee visited Tennessee last weekend. The Vols continue to make a serious late push for the 6-foot, 200-pound corner.
Although South Carolina remains the favorite, Tennessee definitely has momentum heading into Nixon’s decision on Saturday.
