KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Keenan Streitmatter says he’s just “a Christian guy from Peoria trying to make my dream come true,” and the path to his aspirations led to the University of Tennessee on Saturday.
Vols coach Butch Jones held his annual one-day “Arsenal” quarterback camp, drawing more than 100 hopefuls from all over the country, including class of 2018 prospect Streitmatter.
Tennessee is looking to sign quarterbacks in the 2017 and 2018 classes.
Streitmatter is a 6-foot-3, 185-pounder who played at Notre Dame High School in Peoria, Illinois, last season. He said the vaunted IMG Academy in Florida is recruiting him to finish his high school career there, and he plans to make a decision on that soon.
From there, Streitmatter’s dream would include landing several scholarship offers and having the opportunity to play big-time college football.
Streitmatter said he plans to attend Purdue’s QB camp on Sunday, and then make stops at camps at Illinois, Iowa and Northwestern.
