As was expected after Preston Williams on Wednesday announced his intentions to transfer, Tennessee granted that request, the school announced Thursday.

Head coach Butch Jones, seemingly aware the move was coming, brought two freshman wideouts onto his radio show Wednesday and praised them.
“Not one time have they been down about not playing,” Jones said of Brandon Johnson and Marquez Callaway, who joined Jones on the show. “We’ve had to change the culture in the receiver room, and these two players along with (freshman) Tyler Byrd helped change the culture.”
Williams was a 5-star recruit out of Lovejoy High School (Hampton, Ga.), but he had played in only six games since arriving in Knoxville last season, amassing 247 receiving yards and catching two touchdowns passes, both last season.
