Jalen Reeves-Maybin’s Tennessee career didn’t end the way he wanted.
Just a little over a month into the season, Reeves-Maybin suffered a shoulder injury against Florida that would end his season and require surgery. Over the past several months, with playing for the Volunteers no longer an option, the star linebacker’s focus has been on rehabbing that shoulder and preparing for the next level: the NFL.
In a video provided by his agent to 247Sports, Reeves-Maybin gives fans an inside look at what that process has been like, as well as what’s kept him motivated since the injury and subsequent surgery.
“I’m not one to go back and be the guy who wasted his potential,” Reeves-Maybin says at one point.
Even despite the unfortunate end to his Tennessee career, Reeves-Maybin will surely be remembered as one of the best linebackers in recent Volunteer history. Time will tell if that same production will translate to the pros, but if Reeves-Maybin fails, it won’t be because of a lack of effort.
