KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee coach Butch Jones offered a scholarship to one of the fastest middle schoolers in the country Friday.
Knoxville native Elijah Howard — a rising 8th grader and a four-time national champion sprinter — tweeted he had received an offer from the Volunteers after attending Thursday’s camp.

The 5-foot-11, 165-pound athlete plays safety and running back at Webb School of Knoxville. In January, Howard was named the MVP of the Football University (FBU) Youth All-American Bowl after rushing for 225 yards and two touchdowns.
