Jonathan Kongbo is now officially a Tennessee Volunteer.
Tennessee’s football program confirmed to SEC Country that the nation’s top junior college prospect from Arizona Western (Yuma) Junior College sent in his signed national letter of intent on Thursday morning.
Last week, some questions arose surrounding Kongbo’s recruitment status. He was announced as a signee on National Signing Day, but it was later reported he did not send in his letter of intent, which binds him to Tennessee. Kongbo had signed the letter, but his father had not. Tennessee was able to announce him as a signee because he had signed his financial aid agreement.
Kongbo told SEC Country earlier this week that his father was out of town and he was waiting for him to return to sign and send the letter. Kongbo chose the Vols over Ole Miss, Southern California and Florida State. Alabama also made a late push for his services.
