Tennessee had been searching for a quarterback to bring in and make a part of their 2017 class. Tonight they got their wish, as Will McBride from League City, Tex. officially flipped his commitment from Memphis to the Vols:

Though it may be a lot to ask of a true freshman to come in and immediately earn playing time, with Josh Dobbs graduating, the quarterback position at Tennessee is up for the taking. Butch Jones and his staff had made quarterback a priority for this class with that in mind, and they were able to get their man tonight in McBride, a three-star according to 247.
Though he had been committed to Memphis since June and was clearly struggling with the decision, when asked about why he chose the Vols, McBride said, “I get to live out a dream and do it at a special place. I’ve never been shy of competition and challenging myself.”
McBride’s commitment brings Tennessee’s class up to 25 players. 247 has them ranked as sixth in the SEC, and 11th in the nation.
