However, reported details of this incident aren’t as simple. Tennessee insider Jimmy Hyams reports that police responded to the scene of Kelly’s fall after an apparent suicide attempt.
According to a police report cited by Hyams, the incident happened after Kelly had a fight with his girlfriend. One witness told police that Kelly had climbed a metal rail, which led to a 30-foot drop.
According to SEC Country’s Mike Griffith, Kelly was back on campus Friday afternoon and has no serious injuries.
Kelly was a senior in 2017 but could pursue a medical redshirt to return to the Vols next season. He was Tennessee’s leading tackler in 2016.
