Tennessee softball will bring a 13-game win streak into Sunday’s action at Kentucky as the Lady Vols look for the road sweep after Saturday’s 5-2 victory.
Tennessee (34-5, 8-3 SEC) could take a jump up from its No. 17 ranking if it can sweep the 20th-ranked Wildcats (24-10, 5-6).
Brooke Vines ran her hitting streak to 13 games on Saturday with an RBI single as the Lady Vols jumped out to a 5-0 lead and held on.
Freshman Caylan Arnold got the start and threw the first 3 complete innings before Matty Moss came on in relief for the final 4 frames.
“It was a lot tougher (than Friday’s 9-0 win) and that’s exactly what we expected,” UT co-head coach Karen Weekly said. “It was a real battle. I kept looking up at the scoreboard, and we were ahead 5-0 but it felt like 1-0.
“The key to the game today was our defense, it was phenomenal.”
