Tennessee is looking to recapture its glory from the 1990s. Join us daily at SEC Country for the latest Tennessee recruiting news and notes on the next crop of Volunteers. In this edition, we discuss if Tennessee is still out of the picture for cornerback Jaycee Horn and how the Vols are trending up for Shocky Jacques-Louis.
Where do the Vols stand with Jaycee Horn?
Class of 2018 Georgia cornerback Jaycee Horn recently cut his list to South Carolina and Alabama, but Tennessee has not stopped its recruitment of the son of former NFL player Joe Horn.
Horn tweeted a screenshot of a facetime he had with Tennessee coach Butch Jones.

Jones’s continued pursuit of the 4-star corner may be paying off, because while Horn left the Vols off his final list, there still seems to be some mutual interest.
Tennessee currently holds secondary commitments this cycle from Brendon Harris, Brandon Cross and Tanner Ingle. The Vols will lose five secondary players from the two-deep roster this fall, so there will likely be opportunities to play early.
Tennessee’s recruiting class currently ranks as No. 6 in the country and No. 2 in the SEC behind LSU, according to 247Sports.
Fellow Georgia native and Tennessee commit Jatavious Harris has apparently been pushing the Vols hard in their recruiting efforts of Horn.
Harris will continue to push for Tennessee to recruit Horn until his final decision. Possibly after, too, since cutting Horn’s list to two didn’t seem to stop Harris. Horn will supposedly make his decision July 15 but could be delaying his decision.
Harris called his shot, so to speak, despite Tennessee being left off Horn’s top-2 list.

Horn ranks as the No. 23 cornerback in the class and the No. 22 prospect in Georgia. He’s nearly in the top 200 recruits in the country, coming in at No. 211.
Horn continues to tweet more and more positive edits of himself in orange.

The Vols trending up on a Florida wide receiver
Shocky Jacques-Louis committed to Kentucky in April and then de-committed in early June. The Vols have been recruiting him throughout the entire time.
Tennessee appears to be breaking through to Jacques-Louis. His Twitter account recently has been very orange.

He last visited Tennessee’s campus on June 6.
Jacques-Louis will play wide receiver at the college level and ranks as the No. 93 wide receiver in the Class of 2018 and the No. 87 prospect in the state of Florida.
Tennessee currently holds wide receiver commitments from Harris and Alontae Taylor.
All three players have similar builds — a little more than 6-foot and approximately 175 pounds.
Tennessee clearly wants to take three wide receivers in this class, and Jacques-Louis appears to be a top target to fill the remaining spot.
Kentucky still remains in play despite Jacques-Louis’ de-commitment.
Tennessee has all the momentum on the recruiting trail, though, and with a top-5 recruiting class that ranks atop the SEC, the Vols are in good position.
If the Vols can’t nab Jacques-Louis, another possible wide receiver target will be Kevin Austin. The 4-star prospect has been trending toward Notre Dame for a while now, but Tennessee did make his top 4.
With Horn and defensive end Dorian Gerald, who committed late last week, the Tennessee coaching staff has proven its ability to close in on prospects quickly, even when there doesn’t appear to be much of a chance.
Tennessee makes a linebacker’s top 10
Georgia outside linebacker Zakoby McClain reduced his list to 10 schools on Sunday and the Vols made the cut.

Auburn, LSU, South Carolina, West Virginia, Oregon, Nebraska, Michigan State, Tulane and Ole Miss all made the list along with the Vols.
McClain rates as a 4-star linebacker and ranks as the No. 15 outside linebacker in the Class of 2018.
The 247Sports crystal ball has three predictions of McClain choosing Auburn.
