Tennessee starter indefinitely suspended
Junior defensive lineman Danny O’Brien has been suspended for this week’s Oklahoma game for a violation of team rules, Tennessee coach Butch Jones announced on Wednesday. There is no timetable for O’Brien’s return.
O’Brien started 12 of 13 games last season, collecting 23 tackles with 4.5 TFL and a sack. O’Brien started for the Vols in their season opener and picked up two tackles and a sack.
This will be a big blow for the Vols as they are set to go against No. 19 Oklahoma on Saturday in Knoxville, Tenn.
Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops has made no bones about not being intimidated by the Vols’ home field advantage.
The Sooners won last year’s matchup against Tennessee 34-10.
