The competition is heating up for Emil Ekiyor. However, Tennessee is standing pat.
The four-star offensive guard from Cathedral High School (Indianapolis, Ind.) picked up a scholarship offer from Oklahoma on Monday, but that has not changed his stance on the Vols.
Ekiyor said Tennessee still leads for his services as he first told SEC Country in November. He has long said the Vols have recruited him the hardest, but Missouri has recently ramped up its pursuit. Oklahoma remains something of an unknown for him.
“I honestly don’t know much about them,” the 6-foot-3, 315-pound sophomore prospect told SEC Country on Tuesday when asked about the Sooners. “I just know it’s a great program.”
Ekiyor said he will visit Indiana on Saturday and Michigan State on Feb. 26. He said he’s still working on visiting Tennessee again, sometime this spring. He last visited Tennessee for the Vols comeback, 38-31 win over Georgia on Oct. 10.
“I’m looking to visit sometime soon,” he said.
What about the Vols stands out to Ekiyor?
“Just the entire environment,” he said. “I went to a game this fall and it was so electric. Nice facilities, great staff and the program is going in a great direction.”
Ekiyor is rated the No. 4 offensive guard in his signing class.
