KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee has suspended senior starting nickelback Malik Foreman indefinitely for an undisclosed “violation of team rules.”
Foreman has averaged 2.5 tackles through the first two games, splitting nickleback repetitions with redshirt sophomore Rashaan Gaulden in contests with Appalachian State and Virginia Tech.
Gaulden got the start in place of Foreman, the Vols essentially running a 4-2-5 base defense.
Foreman’s suspension makes the secondary even thinner than it was with junior cornerback Justin Martin not dressed out for today’s game with Ohio at Neyland Stadium (TV: Noon, SEC Network).
Foreman, who played his prep football at Kingsport’s Dobyns-Bennett High School, played in all 13 games as a junior, starting 10 of them.
