Texas A&M vs. Tennessee

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee fans must wait till Sunday to learn the kickoff time for the Vols’ Oct. 8 game at Texas A&M.

The No. 11-ranked Vols (4-0, 1-0 SEC) will play the No. 9-ranked Aggies at either 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS or 7 p.m. ET on ESPN.

CBS exercised its six-day option and will reveal its choice Oct. 2 between Tennessee-Texas A&M and Alabama-Arkansas. ESPN will televise the other game.

It’s Tennessee’s first meeting with Texas A&M since the Aggies joined the SEC in 2012, and the schools’ third meeting, ever.

The Vols won both of their games with Texas A&M, 3-0 in the 1957 Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, Fla., and most recently, in the 2005 Cotton Bowl in Dallas, 38-7.

Former Tennessee player and longtime defensive coordinator John “Chief” Chavis runs the Texas A&M defense.

The Vols play No. 25-ranked Georgia at 3:30 p.m. ET Saturday in Sanford Stadium in a game with SEC East Division implications.

Tennessee hasn’t won consecutive games vs ranked teams since first-ballot Hall of Famer Phillip Fulmer was running the program in 2007 (No. 12 Georgia, No. 15 South Carolina).
