Tennessee to break out updated ‘smokey grey’ uniforms against Georgia
Looking to snap a two-game losing skid, Tennessee is about to make a change.
This Saturday, the Vols plan to rock smokey grey uniforms and a matching smokey grey helmet for the first time as they host No. 16 Georgia and try to earn their first win in SEC play.
The uniform will be different, but Tennessee coach Butch Jones noted that an alternative jersey won’t affect the outcome of the game.
“It will be a smokey grey game,” Jones said. “We’ll be debuting the smokey grey uniforms, which doesn’t help you win a football game.”
Tennessee first debuted “smokey grey” uniforms in 2013, when the Vols had a contract with Adidas. This updated version, complete with a smokey grey helmet, was introduced in July as a part of the athletic program’s new eight-year, $35 million apparel contract with Nike.
