The Tennessee Volunteers will honor legendary women’s basketball coach Pat Summitt by wearing a special helmet sticker for their season opener Thursday against Appalachian State.
Coach Butch Jones announced the commemorative decal at his weekly news conference Saturday.

“We all know what she stands for,” Jones said.
Summitt died at the age of 64 on June 28 after being diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease in 2011. She continued coaching through the 2012 season. Over her 38 seasons heading the Vols, they won eight NCAA titles.
The Volunteers also will honor Chad Clifton as the Legend of the Game for Week 1. Clifton is a former Green Bay Packers offensive lineman and played at Tennessee from 1995-99.
The Vols’ game against Appalachian State kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET and will air on SEC Network.
I can only assume the Pat Summitt helmet decal will be this, and I am all on board for that. pic.twitter.com/TQhv2NnDEh
