Tennessee will be without a former starter on its offensive line this week
Tennessee sophomore offensive lineman Brett Kendrick has been ruled out for the South Carolina game with a knee injury, according to coach Butch Jones.
“He did practice a little bit yesterday, but not quite ready,” Jones said during his weekly press conference on Wednesday.
This will be the fourth consecutive game Kendrick has missed. He was first held out against UGA. There has been widespread speculation that Kendrick will be out for the season. However, his mother refuted that via Twitter shortly after it was reported.
Jones said freshman receiver Preston Williams (hamstring) and sophomore offensive lineman Jashon Robertson (ankle) are questionable.
“We’ll know a little bit more on those individuals as the week continues to progress,” Jones said.
Jones said Williams is expected to practice today.
Jones also addressed freshman linebacker Quart’e Sapp, who has played in four games and registered three tackles. Sapp has been dealing with a foot injury.
“Right now,” Jones said, “he would be a medical redshirt.”
