HOOVER, Ala. — Tennessee coach Butch Jones and the three Vols he brought to SEC Media Days wore determined expressions throughout their time at the Wynfrey Hotel.
The day before, the Florida Gators had let the world know how much they were looking forward to extending their winning streak against Tennessee to 12 games and proving preseason prognosticators wrong.
The Vols chose not to respond to the Gators’ bait. Quarterback Josh Dobbs insisted that Tennessee will be taking things one game at a time.
Jones knew UT fans were ready to hear him talk football, but he opened his speech discussing the late Pat Summitt, who passed away last month at the age of 64.
Tennessee held a warm and magical celebration of life for Summitt on Thursday night in Thompson-Boling arena, and even her most bitter rival was on hand to honor the Lady Vols’ global icon.
