Tennessee’s football team received its second special guest in two days. This time it was a former NFL standout with Tennessee ties.
Former NFL coach Jon Gruden spoke to the Vols on Wednesday. Gruden was a graduate assistant for Tennessee in 1986-87. He met his wife, who is an East Tennessee native, while in Knoxville. He has been repeatedly mentioned to fill recent Tennessee coaching vacancies, although it’s unclear if there was ever actually interest from either side.
Butch Jones tweeted pictures of Gruden’s address to the team:

Gruden won a Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers following the 2002 season. He is the second former Buccaneer to visit with the Vols in two days. Former linebacker Derrick Brooks stopped by Tuesday.
