Tee Martin was a rumored name to potentially become either Tennessee’s head coach or offensive coordinator. However, the Vols hired Jeremy Pruitt and Tyson Helton to fill those two roles, respectively.
However, Martin, a former Tennessee quarterback, apparently was never interested in becoming the Vols’ offensive coordinator.
During an interview with reporters on Tuesday night, including Scott Schrader of TrojanInsider.com, Martin said he was only considering leaving USC for his alma mater if the Vols would hire him as head coach.
“If I was going to go back to Tennessee, it was to be as the head coach, not as a coordinator,” Martin said. “I made that message very clear, and when I was out of that discussion, then they moved on to do what they had to do.”

Martin has been USC’s offensive coordinator the past two seasons and has been on the Trojans’ staff since 2012. He previously served as an assistant at Kentucky and New Mexico.
Martin played at Tennessee from 1996-99 under former head coach Phillip Fulmer, who is currently serving as the the Vols’ athletic director.
