A week after visiting Rocky Top, one of the nation’s best quarterbacks has decided he will play ball up the road instead.
Emory Jones, the No. 2 dual-threat quarterback in the Class of 2018, announced his decision to attend Ohio State over Tennessee via a BleacherReport.com video on Friday morning:
Jones visited Knoxville last week, with our own Jesse Simonton reporting the Heard County (Ga.) native “hung out with 2018 Vols commits Cade Mays, a 5-star offensive tackle from Knoxville Catholic, and Alontae Taylor, a 3-star athlete from Coffee County (Tenn.) Central, who were doing their best to recruit Jones to Rocky Top.”
The 4-star quarterback previously called Ohio State his “dream school,” according to Landof10.com’s Jeremy Birmingham, and the competition was close enough that Jones delayed his originally-scheduled June commitment.
“Tennessee really gave me their all,” Jones said, per Birmingham. “It was amazing.”
Mays and Taylor are the Vols’ only current commitments in the Class of 2018, while Jones is the third commitment in the Buckeyes’ class.
