Did Phillip Fulmer just out-zing the zing master?
That may be taking it a little too far, but it was fun to see former Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer and former Florida coach Steve Spurrier sitting side-by-side during ESPN’s College GameDay telecast from Knoxville on Saturday morning. The two former bitter SEC East rivals appear to have repaired relations enough to at least sit next to each other on the set, and we’re all the benefactors of that.
GameDay host Rece Davis tried to bait Spurrier into reliving some of his classic Tennessee jokes, like “You can’t spell Citrus without UT,” but he declined to choose a favorite Vols zing when pressed by Davis. When given the opportunity to offer his favorite rebuttal, Fulmer did not decline the chance to take a swipe at the Head Ball Coach on national television.
“I said I think he’s hitting from the ladies tee,” Fulmer said, referencing Spurrier’s affection for golf and his pride in turning in an impressive scorecard. You can watch the exchange here:

Tennessee will try to break an 11-game losing streak to the Gators when it hosts Florida at Neyland Stadium at 3:30 p.m. ET.
