Recruiting rankings can create extremely high expectations for any player committed to play Division I college football.
Some players fall into a trap and don’t live up to them, while others exceed those high marks. For Tennessee defensive tackle Jonathan Kongbo to date, it was the former. Kongbo was a 4-star prospect according to 247 Sports, but was also the No. 1 JUCO player in the country after his redshirt freshman season at Arizona Western College.
Kongbo hasn’t been the player the rankings suggest yet, but this play against Missouri certainly helps. He stayed in his spot as the Tigers set up a screen pass and took it back for a touchdown.

Perhaps the most impressive part here is the slight jump into the air to catch the ball at its peak. Kongbo shows he doesn’t move like a lineman with the speed he showcases as he runs toward the endzone.
To date, Kongbo had recorded just five tackles and hadn’t started a game for the Volunteers, but his 59-yard return for a touchdown will certainly make a quality addition to his stat column.
