On the Odell Beckham Jr. scale of spectacular catches, Jauan Jennings catch during practice on Thursday might have been a seven or eight out of 10.
It wasn’t the most crisp route, it also wasn’t the best throw, but that doesn’t matter here. Somehow Jennings came down with this ball.
Jauan Jennings (somehow) caught this ball despite juggling it initially.

It wasn't the sharpest pass-skeleton period Thursday, but Tennessee WR Jauan Jennings did make a sweet circus catch after an initial bobble. pic.twitter.com/fFOm93kZhr

The ball is thrown behind Jennings, who has to adjust. The ball hits him in the shoulder pad. His attempt to corral the ball with his left hand comes up empty, and he tips the ball into the air. Jennings tracks the ball over the top of his head and comes down with the catch as a coach dodges out of the way.
This probably isn’t a catch if a corner is there playing decent defense and perhaps it’s an interception under the right conditions. Regardless, the catch by Jennings is impressive and a hint at what the Volunteers will need out of him this season. He was tied for second on the team with 40 catches in 2016 on 580 yards, also good for second place on last season’s team. He figures to be the Vols top target at 6-foot-3, 209 pounds.
