Nixon, a 5-foot-8, 182-pound prospect from DeSoto, Texas, had committed to the school in April and was the team’s top-rated prospect at his position.
He is the No. 38-ranked receiver in the Class of 2017 and the No. 43 overall prospect in the state of Texas.
Tennessee still has two wide receivers as part of the 2017 class, including three-star Princeton Fant, who was one of eight players to commit to the Vols last weekend.
All rankings are from the 247Sports’ composite unless otherwise noted.
