It’s crazy to think five years have passed since Texas A&M made its SEC debut. It seems like forever ago that the Aggies were still playing Texas and Oklahoma in the Big 12.
Well, maybe not for everyone.
Those days are still alive and well, according to Sports Illustrated, which ranked Texas A&M at No. 25 in its preseason Top 25 rankings and has them going 4-4 in “Big 12” play last season.
Of course, that would’ve made for a Big 12 vs. Big 12 matchup in the Texas Bowl against Kansas State. Kevin Sumlin’s arrival in College Station coincided with the Aggies’ first season in the SEC.
Nonetheless, SI at least thinks highly of Texas A&M this season. Whereas the coaches poll didn’t have the Aggies ranked, they crack the Top 25 in Sports Illustrated’s eyes.
Texas A&M is one of four SEC West teams in their Top 25 along with Alabama (No. 1), Auburn (No. 10) and LSU (No. 13). Georgia (No. 16) and Florida (No. 18) are also included.
