Texas A&M may not have the most difficult schedule remaining — including this past weekend’s win over New Mexico State. But that may not matter in terms of if the Aggies make the College Football Playoff.
CBS Sports writer Jerry Palm released his College Football Playoff projections ahead of the first official release on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. ET. He included a pair of SEC teams in the top four spots — Alabama at No. 1 and Texas A&M at No. 4.
The Aggies’ chances appeared to take a hit when they lost to the unbeaten Crimson Tide on Oct. 22. They play at Mississippi State this week, then finish the regular season with three straight home games against Ole Miss, Texas-San Antonio and LSU.
Many critics feel A&M is currently on the outside looking in, but these particular rankings put it ahead of undefeated Washington.
It’s no surprise Alabama is in the top spot. The Tide are 8-0, continuing to win games handily. However, as Palm’s article notes, the looming Iron Bowl matchup with Auburn on Nov. 26 is continuing to look scarier with how the Tigers have been playing.
