Texas A&M’s former punter Drew Kaser is headed to San Diego after being drafted by the San Diego Chargers in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL Draft.
Kaser averaged 46 yards per punt for the Aggies over the course of his career, having surpassed Shane Lechler‘s average of 44.7 yards per punt to establish a school record. Kaser was named a first-team All SEC selection for the 2015 season.
Kaser will join a former teammate, kicker Josh Lambo, who joined the Chargers following the 2015 draft as an undrafted free agent. He is the third A&M player to be drafted in 2016. Tackle Germain Ifedi was selected in the first round by the Seattle Seahawks, and the Cardinals drafted cornerback Brandon Williams in the third round.
