Johnny Manziel’s personal and legal struggles have been well-chronicled.
Most recently, his lawyer accidentally texted the Associated Press and confirmed that he is seeking a plea deal in an assault case. The former Texas A&M star quarterback’s father, Paul Manziel, shared a few sobering comments to ESPN’s Josina Anderson, according to a Facebook post by NFL insider Adam Schefter.
“He’s a druggie,” Manziel told Anderson. “It’s not a secret that he’s a druggie. I don’t know what to say other than my son is a druggie and he needs help. He just hasn’t seeked it yet. Hopefully he doesn’t die before he comes to his senses. That’s about all you can say. I don’t know what else to say. I hate to say it but I hope he goes to jail. I mean, that would be the best place for him. So we’ll see.”
Manziel’s father is the most recent in a long line of people who have expressed their concern for the former Aggies’ well-being, but his comments shed some light on just how dire the situation really is.
